You must turn in the two forms in the above packet, and your check made out to Prince of Peace to be registered for the Monastery retreats. Please note that you need to register a month before the retreat (these book very quickly), you can cancel up until three weeks before retreat, not after. You will be responsible for the fee if you cancel after the three week period.
In order to help us properly prepare for retreats I am adding a few requirements/expectations.
-The Pecos Monastery fills up very quickly. We can only have a total of 30 people attend including chaperones, peace core, etc. I suggest you plan in advance to ensure there is a spot for your teen. We need all registrants to sign up no later than three weeks before the retreat. We cannot do last minute sign ups for this retreat as the monastery prepares its grocery lists and room reservations that far out.
-If you signed your teen up to attend a retreat and found a conflict of interest and they can no longer go, the latest you can drop out is four weeks before the retreat. After this point you are expected to pay the retreat fee regardless of attendance as the parish pays for all the attendees a month prior to the retreat.
-Often times there are people staying in the hermitages on the monastery property for a silent retreat. Our expectation for your teen’s behavior is to model that of the retreat leaders. There are silent meals, silence in the hallways, and a general prayer atmosphere as it is a monastic residence. Further, there is the expectation that your teen can respect the rules to not use their phone, wake themselves up on time for sessions, and generally function with adult expectations for the weekend. These are very mature retreats that yield very mature results. I trust that most of our teens will benefit from them greatly, as has been my experience.
