What is Confirmation? Confirmation is one of the seven Sacraments and the third Sacrament of Initiation in the Roman Catholic Church. A Sacrament is a sign of God's love and presence. Sacraments give us sanctifying grace- a gift of God's love, God's life. Confirmation establishes the beginning, NOT the end or "graduation", of a life of FULL participation and responsibility in the Church.
Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are freely accepting the gifts of the Holy Spirit into their lives and taking on the challenge to be active members of the Catholic Church.
Our Confirmation ministry prepares our candidates for an encounter with Jesus. Through Confirmation, candidates are asked to deepen their friendship with God, develop a personal union with the Spirit of Christ, and strengthen to persevere as members of God's family. Confirmation is a sacrament of apostolic responsibilities. It is important that the candidate is both ready and willing to make a fully mature commitment to Christ and to continue to grow in their faith and relationship with God.
