Mary Shea, Father Mike's Mother, Passed Away Friday, December 6th
Mary Shea, Father Mike's mother, has passed away on Friday and is in the Lord's loving care. She had been ill for some time.
Mary D. Shea, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, December 6, 2013. She is survived by her son, Fr. Michael J. Shea. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and daughter, Patty.
Rosary will be recited Wednesday, December 11, 7:00 p.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community and Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 12, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery Friday, December 13, 1:30 p.m.
Eternal rest, grant onto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her,
and may her soul, and all the souls of the
faithfully departed, through the Mercy of God,
rest in Peace. Amen.
Comandos de Salvamento depart for El Salvador
The Comandos from El Salvador have left on their grueling 10 day, 1800 mile return home! They collected an ambulance and other vehicles for use as emergency vehicles in their country. These will be refurbished and put into service there.
To date, the Comandos have reconditioned and transported over 80 emergency vehicles from New Mexico Catholics for their missions.

Share-a-Toy SVdP Breakfast
Sunday, December 8th
The annual Share-A-Toy breakfast will be held on December 8th, following the 9 and 10:30am Masses. The toys collected are provided to the Metropolitan Detention Center for the annual Children's Christmas Party. Bring a toy and receive a free breakfast. If you don't have a toy, the cost of the breakfast is $5. Also, additional donations are requested, to help with the cost of the Children's Christmas Party.
Come and enjoy making Christmas special for others.
Women's Ministry Advent Sharing Thursdays 7pm
The Women's Ministry is sponsoring faith sharing sessions on the Thursdays of Advent (December 5th, 12th and 19th) in the library from 7-8 PM. Everyone who is interested in reflecting on the entries in the "Little Blue Book" and the readings of Advent and sharing Advent stories is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Make checks payable to Prince of Peace Parish with a note on the check, "For Philippine Typhoon Victims. Your $5 will buy a typical Filipino family of 4 at least 3 meals of rice. Marian Feasts this Week
We celebrate two feasts of our Lady this week. Sunday, December 8th is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Since the holy day falls on a Sunday, the regular Weekend Mass schedule applies including 5pm Saturday Vigil, and Sunday at 9 & 10:30am and 5pm.
Thursday, December 12th is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is not a feastday of obligation! Mass is celebrated at 7am. Stop by and say a rosary in thanksgiving for Our Lady's on-going love in our lives.

The Advent Prince of Peace Reconciliation Service will STILL be held tonight, December 9th, beginning at 7pm. There will be a number of priests to hear confessions of those in attendance. What better opportunity to prepare your soul for Christmas!
Global Wave of Prayer to End HungerTuesday, December 10th
On December 10th, Human Rights Day, Pope Francis has called for a global wave of prayer that will spread across the world starting at noon in Australia and sweeping across the world. This will be the kick off of a global campaign in the Catholic Church not only to fight hunger but to end it completely. The goal is to END HUNGER and to do it by 2025.
Here at Prince of Peace, we will have an hour of Adoration and Mass in the chapel beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 10th. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Parent's Night Out Saturday, December 14th
PoP's Middle School EDGE group will host a Parent's Night Out on December 14th from 6 to 9pm. Parents can take the time to do some 'secret' shopping or just a night to relax.
We will serve pizza, decorate Christmas cookies and watch a movie. We ask that children be 3 years or older and able to toilet themselves. Please call the Religious Ed. Office to reserve your spot and register, 797-9115
Simbang Gabi Philippine Mass & Fiesta Meal Sunday, December 15th
Simbang Gabi is a nine day Catholic Novena practiced in the Philippines each year before Christmas. On the last day, a morning Mass called the Misa de Gallo is celebrated in a tradition that dates back to Mexico in 1587. It is one of the Filipinos most treasured Christmas traditions.
We invite everyone to the Simbang Gabi Mass and celebrations on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10:30am at Prince of Peace Catholic Community. The Philippine fiesta meal featuring Filipino food with refreshments will be served in the Community Room after the 9 and the 10:30am Masses. 2nd Annual Parish Fiesta Thursday, December 19th
Mark your calendar! Each year, our community worships with the ancient New Mexico Christmas tradition of Las Posadas. This year, we celebrate with a Dinner and Communion Service on Thursday, December 19th beginning at 6pm in the Community Center. It is a wonderful way to prepare ourselves for the celebration of Jesus in our hearts and in our lives. If you are interested in participating, we will have more information shortly.

RCIA Rite of Welcoming

The PoP RCIA Class of 2014 consisting of Sabrina Greinel, Samantha Roudabush, LaTanya Mayo-Starr, Melsia Sanft, James Schwank, and Melissa Volpert traveled to Santa Fe for a day of retreat, with their sponsors, Father Mike and Deacon Steve. They returned to the 5pm Mass to celebrate the Rite of Welcoming. Please pray for them as they continue on their journey of faith toward celebration of the Sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
